Back in 1977, Peter Cannon, the founder of Pecan Engineering was a little hot under the collar. He was frustrated at the quality of combustion stoves imported from Taiwan, and the operation of units from Europe and North America. They were made for cooler burning softwoods and didn't exploit or handle well, the fierce burning Australian hardwoods.

From and engineering background, Peter Cannon was a perfectionist and his business then was retailing heating appliances. He wanted to give his customers the very best natural heating available. Frustration can be a great motivation and it proved the spark that led to the berth of Pecan Engineering. Today Pecan Engineering employs 25 people at our Dry Creek plant.

Our Nectre wood heaters, including the newest and most powerful unit, the Mega, The mark 1 & 2, our Inbuilt model and the very traditional Nectre 15 and Baker's Oven, are exported to all places all over the world. Including Japan, New Zealand and even Taiwan!
